Five answers before launch.

How are royalties calculated?+
100% of net profit after deductions. Specifically: Selling price minus (print cost + distribution markup + technology fees + GST + return reserve). Example: a ₹250 paperback selling on Amazon — Amazon takes 60% margin, print cost is ~₹90, distribution markup is ~₹15, tech fees are ~₹5 — net ~₹40 goes to you. We don't take a 30% cut on top. Your royalty IS the net.
When and how do I get paid?+
Monthly UPI/NEFT payouts. Royalties for last month are calculated within first 10 days of next month. You request payout from your dashboard; transfer happens within 10 working days. Minimum threshold is ₹1,000 — smaller amounts roll over to the next month. A ₹500 reserve is held to cover returns/refunds and adjusted at final settlement.
Can I see real-time sales as they happen?+
Daily-updated, not real-time second-by-second. Marketplaces (Amazon, Flipkart, Kindle, Google Play) provide their data on a daily sync cycle — you'll see today's sales tomorrow morning. Daily granularity is industry standard for indie publishing. Live-second tracking isn't possible because marketplaces don't expose that data.
What's the minimum royalty threshold for payout?+
₹1,000 minimum. If your accumulated royalties are below ₹1,000 in a month, they roll over to the next month. This is to keep transaction costs low — UPI/NEFT have fixed bank fees regardless of amount. Most authors hit ₹1,000+ in their second or third month.
How do I handle taxes on royalties?+
Royalties are taxable income. TDS is deducted by us before payout (typically 10% under Section 194J for residents with PAN). You'll get TDS certificates for filing income tax. For GST: book royalties are generally GST-exempt for individuals (Section 9). Annual statements provided for tax filing. Add-on (₹2,000/year) for full TDS/PAN/GST filing assistance.
