Why we don't take a percentage of your royalty

An open letter on why 100% royalty isn't a marketing hook — and why we'd rather lose the margin than the principle.

Why we don't take a percentage of your royalty

For years the Indian self-publishing industry has run on a quiet trick: tell the author they earn 100% royalty, then carve out a percentage on the way out.

We don't.

Our model is the simplest one we could think of. You pay a fixed amount upfront — for cover, ISBN, formatting, distribution, the lot — and after that everything your book earns is yours. Forever. Not for the first year. Not above a threshold. Not on certain channels. Forever.

The math we don't hide

A ₹249 paperback on Amazon India returns roughly ₹70 to the seller after print, platform fee, and GST. We pay you that ₹70. We don't keep ₹14 of it, we don't keep ₹7 of it, we don't keep ₹1 of it. That number is on our royalty calculator, on the home page, with the working visible.

Frequently asked questions.

Will my royalty rate change as I sell more?
No. We do not take a percentage of your royalty at any stage. The cost of publishing is a fixed one-time fee — what you earn after print and distribution is yours, forever.
Is the 10-day timeline real or marketing copy?
It is real, and we measure it monthly. From signed-off manuscript to live Amazon listing, we hit 10 working days more than 95% of the time. The few misses are usually waiting on author approvals.
